Mausoleum

Nypa Lane, Manila Memorial Park, Sucat, Paranaque

The mausoleum is a simple rectangular volume with a large arch that faces the front and that frames the stained glass entrance doors that open into the columbarium.  The smaller door at the right side of the large arch leads to the staircase that brings one to the roof garden.

The columbarium’s two stained glass entrance doors come together to form an image that signifies the Tree of Life.

The staircase that leads to the roof deck is approached by a tall hallway that flanks the columbarium at left.

The ascent of the stairs begins under the vaulted ceiling of the tall hallway.

The stairs to the roof travel between two parallel walls that frame the sky.

The walls are carved out to make room for the handrails.

Black java pavers cover the steps of the staircase leading to the roof garden.
